Here are four of Dorothy’s verses written for Marvin that were part of the opening and the closing of their life together.
Leave us for a little, for a
little go—go up the
steps and through the
gate. Leave us alone, and
go. The light you brought is
spread within, brighter than
the noon. Now that we see
each other in this
frank and morning
way words have never
said so much as they will tell today.
So leave us now
together. Then I’ll
take your hand to
go into the profound
shadows that such a light must throw.
